Freezing February

Made you look. (I'm sure we had a few extra cold days, but we mostly had 60's and 70's weather.) I was doing a bunch of scrapbooking catch-up today during Conference (the pages I still need to paper scrap - professional photos, usually -  are  more like 4 years behind instead of just 2.) and looking through all our winters in Iowa. It's hard to remember that even in April it's still below freezing some places, while hit 90º this week.

Actually, first we have January, take 2. I sometimes forget that with the two cameras, our pictures are split into 2 folders... and some of these were too cute to not get into my little journal-timeline...

This first one is actually from when the Jeremy's family visited, just before Christmas. We went to Glendale to see his great-aunt, and for such a drive, Grandpa opted to ride in the non-existent jump seat to avoid taking 2 cars... yes, he's just a touch crazy...

Here are my three sweethearts on their first Sunday of the new year. Aren't they sweet? That Katy, though. She is sure full of it. I'm not sure what turning 3 will bring. My other two were a little more difficult at 3, but Katy's been a little ahead of the curve. (She already thinks she's 4 or 5, and already has the strength of will the other two developed closer to 3...)

It's been so nice to be closer to family. So far, a month hasn't gone by where we don't see at least one grandparent. In January both Grandmas made it down once. Of course Jaina still says she misses them, and wishes we could live closer to them. (slight eyeroll)  I try to tell her that we DO live close to them, and try to help her remember living so far away. She doesn't remember much from Iowa, I don't think (she wasn't quite 3 when we left) but she remembers Virginia, and misses that too (though it was super far from all our family).  She is always wishing for something. I hope we can help her learn to count her blessings instead of worrying about what -isn't- currently happening. :) She does enjoy life though, and gets very excited when good things happen or there is something to look forward to!

February was good. I don't remember too many specific days, but most of it was a bit of a whirlwind, with the first half of it revolving mostly around the kids' excitement about Valentine's Day. :) It was both Reilly and also Jaina's first time having a class to take Valentine's to, and they were excited, especially Jaina. Reilly didn't get to really put his together himself, because we bought them and he insisted his teacher had said we had to bring them the day BEFORE Valentine's Day. I was pretty sure he didn't have to, but he was so insistent that I bought a little stapler and we put them together in the car before school that day. It was all kind of a rush, but we got it done, and I took them in a few minutes after he had to go to class. :) Jaina, on the other hand spent a very happy hour copying names from her class list onto her My Little Pony valentines.

We actually got to go on a date on Valentine's Day, which is practically unheard of. We went out for lunch and were gone for almost 3 hours while Sophie watched Jaina (Katy was mostly sleeping, thankfully, and her kids both napped too). Then we watched Phil and Sophie's kids while they went out that evening. Yay for Valentine's Day. :)
