Tummy Time

These two videos are of Reilly in the basement. We took both the kids down there to get out of the living room. First we gave Jaina some tummy time on the floor. Reilly thought it was so great that as soon as we picked up Jaina, he laid down and started laughing hysterically. It was quite ironic since "tummy time" was his absolute least favorite activity as a new born.

We were able to send these videos from Jeremy's cell phone, which was rather nifty.

Cute Kids and Icky Colds

How cute is he? Taken today.

Taken a week or two ago.

Not totally sure what's happening here. We told Reilly to come SIT by his sister. Instead he seems to be attempting to stand on his head...

Taken today, just over six weeks old.

Ditto, taken about an hour ago.

So it's official: we all caught the "cold" part of Reilly's sickness, even little Jaina. Poor us. I guess we should just be grateful it wasn't the stomach flu part... Jeremy and I have been taking turns getting out of the house, and at times, sleeping. We're pretty excited for everyone to feel better around here. In the meantime, thankfully, our kids try to be as cute as possible. Considering the circumstances, anyway. :)

Living in a Freezer!

So that is what greeted me this morning when I left for school. It was soooo cold. I had a test this morning too and so I didn't have time to warm up the car so I just shivered all the way to school. The poor car didn't want to go either. All of its parts were frozen so it creaked and groaned all the way to the school. It was like it was saying, "No please no, it's too cold." I'm just so glad for my two coats that I wear together. It did warm up though and it was a whopping 5 degrees when I came home this evening! Boy do I miss Arizona weather.

In random cold news, a guy I go to school with ran like 29 mills in sub-zero weather in Wisconsin and is now losing several of his toes. Crazy people!

Who needs sleep?

So we're still trying to figure out this little girl. (Jaina, not Reilly, who is in the picture :) )She goes to sleep, but she won't stay asleep. She sleeps best with me, but it's wreaking havoc on my back! I think I got maybe 3 hours of sleep last night trying to sleep with her OR have her sleep in her bassinet. Jeremy was also up very early in the morning with poor Reilly. He has some kind of stomach bug or something, and isn't feeling well at all. It's been a long day already and it's only like 1:30... I would be doing a little better if I knew I would get 6-7 hours of sleep tonight, but I just don't see that happening. Anyway, at least the house is calm right now. Both kids are actually napping. I should be, too, but I know Reilly will be up any time now (and probably upset, though hopefully still clean - he's on his third set of clothes today) and Jaina's not exactly settled. She seldom is. I just have to remember that things will calm down and get better! There's Reilly... better go.

Just some pictures

I have a sleeping baby attached (by sling) to my front, so typing's a little difficult. We are doing well. Jeremy's family left last Friday, so the last 3 days have been a little exciting with just the two kids and I at home all day by ourselves... We are getting things figured out (though Jaina does NOT like to be set down, even if she's fast asleep and Reilly wants to be right there with us on the couch much of the time...) but looking forward to having Jeremy home with us for the long weekend. :) Jaina is 5 weeks old now. It's hard to believe! The pictures aren't very chronological - they're a few from the last two weeks. The one of Jaina with the pacifier is just yesterday.

Jeremy's 2007

What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
I rented a 26' Penske truck, filled it, put a trailer on it and a van on that, and then drove it across the country.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
My wife did, I think that's pretty close.

Did anyone close to you die?
My Granda Kerrigan died in March, and My Great-Grandpa died in July. I really miss both of them.

What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Better scripture study habits.

What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Definitely December 12th when Jaina was born.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I would have to say being there for my wife as she tried to take care of Reilly and be pregnant at the same time.

What was your biggest failure?
Probably not serving others more.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Lots and lots of things. I got way excited when I first saw the ipod touch and I got even more excited when I first fell in love with my new baby. I also got way excited when I went to get Sara and Reilly from the airport in July here in Iowa.

What song will always remind you of 2007?
Popcorn popping on the apricot tree. I sang that one alot this year.

Compared to this time last year, are you: much happier, richer, nicer?
I would say no to all. I'm just as happy as I was this time last year, I'm a whole lot poorer since I started grad school, and I need to work on my road rage.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Study.

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Study.

Did you fall in love in 2007?
Definitely. I fell way in love with my beautiful baby girl.

I learned that even a ward choir can sound amazing.

What did you want and get?
I wanted to become more of our own little family.

What were your favorite films of this year?
I really loved "The Ultimate Gift" and "Transformers." "The Ultimate Gift" made me think and made me want to help others and "Transformers" was just awesome.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I got a baby sitter for Reilly and I went to dinner with the most beautiful girl in the world. I turned 24.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Living ten minutes from a temple, so I could go every week.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
$1.60 polo shirts on clearance at JCPenny's.

What kept you sane?
A monthly trip to the temple.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas was very strange (with a new baby and being away from most of our family) but good. Reilly really enjoyed opening presents and Jaina behaved herself so the rest of us could open ours. (What was left after Reilly worked his way through them...) It was a fairly calm day, and I think all 5 of us were actually asleep at the same time at one point in the afternoon...

Pictures

Here are pictures of Reilly and Jaina (and Aunt Emily) during Jaina's first week at home. It was fairly exciting, because there was only so much sleep to divide among the 3 adults.
Reilly likes his little sisterbut doesn't understand how to be soft just yet, so we spend some time protecting her without hurting his feelings...
