I've been referring to Katy as "the 2-year-old" for some time now, because she's been acting like she's already 2 for months... However, on Father's Day she actually did turn 2, so we had a little party for her birthday the day before. We tried to keep things simple, and made her cake out of birthday Oreo cookies. She was kind of a punk most of the day (the "2" thing?) and completely refused to nap before her party, but she had a good time. She was excited to go with Daddy to pick out a birthday balloon, expertly blew out the candles, and didn't complain too much about all the help she had opening presents. She is such a big girl in so many ways that I have to remind myself how little she still really is when judging her level of control and competence. Her favorite foods are yogurt, grapes, and crackers, and she loves baby dolls of all kinds. She wants to do and have whatever her older siblings do, and is much more independent than either of them were at this age. She is talking quite a bit, and is especially good at parroting sentences back to us. (with understanding, it seems) Our little Kathryn Emily is really growing up!
