So last weekend (well, I guess it was the 30th we headed up to Washington, D.C. to try to attend stake temple day. We left Friday as soon as Jeremy got done with work, hoping the traffic going INto the city that time of day wouldn't be too bad. It was still pretty slow in and crowded in some areas. Our kids were troopers for the most part, especially since we were in the car for over 5 hours. We were staying in the suburbs of D.C. that night, and we heard some thunder and our electricity switched out for about 10 seconds, but other than that, we were mostly unaware of the severe thunderstorms that swept through much of the area. Power was out for days in some areas, but we got pretty lucky that night. The next morning as we drove over to the temple, branches were down everywhere and one house right across from the temple had the front taken almost completely off by what looked like a whole tree. We didn't get the attend the temple as planned, because the power was off and they had no a/c. Did I mention we had heat advisories that weekend? So we walked around the back of the temple, took some pictures, and headed home, somewhat slowly. There was quite a bit of traffic, and we stopped several times to eat or shop. Not the weekend we expected, but still a good one. :)
